Data preparation

  1. Prepare data — tidies the raw FACS, face-presence, session, and transcript files into analysis-ready tables.
  2. Occlusion coding — builds the per-session time inventory (full-face-available, occlusion, neutral, AU-active) used as exposure denominators.

Main analyses

  1. Face presence — how much of the recorded day contained a partial or full face, and how that changes with age.
  2. Hypothesized configurations — exposure to each hypothesized emotion configuration, by phase, with assessability.
  3. Observed configurations — the facial configurations infants actually see: how many, how often, how widely shared, and how closely they match hypothesized configurations (Dice).
